Jake slammed his guitar on the ground for emphasis. The crowd of rabid college students continued to erupt. Dexter was having the time of his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you very much, y\u2019all are absolutely wild!\u201d Dustin praised the crowd, leading to further eruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the chaos died down, Trevor took back the mic. \u201cHave you ever had that friend who you knew could do something with their life, but they just need to get out of their own way?\u201d he asked the audience. \u201cWell, this song is about that friend. It\u2019s called \u2018The Most Charismatic Villain is the One You\u2019re Looking At in the Mirror.\u2019\u201d Again, everyone lost their mind as Rise In Girl launched into the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a few drinks (and more) in his body, Dexter had been dancing all night, doing a combination of the \u201cwhite boy shuffle\u201d and a semi-mosh with his friends. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a girl. She wore a black Red Knight T-shirt, orange skirt, and black tights, and she was going crazy on the dance floor. Her blue and purple curls bounced as she moved with style, and Dexter was drawn to her nose piercing and multiple tattoos. This is my dream girl, <\/em>he thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apparently, his staring was obvious. \u201cYo, I see what\u2019s going on!\u201d he heard Lewis yell over the music. \u201cDon\u2019t be simpin\u2019 over there!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShut the fuck up!\u201d he retorted. Suddenly, the girl was right next to him. Dexter almost jumped out of his skin. She smelled like strawberries and cream, with hints of weed and booze mixed in.  As the song continued to play, she held her arm and he grabbed it. What in the actual hell is happening right now? <\/em>he thought. <\/em>This was too good to be true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the girl grabbed Dexter, she spun him around in a pirouette and giggled. Dexter, in his drunkenness, almost fell down. The final notes of \u201cThe Most Charismatic Villain\u201d played. \u201cThank you!\u201d he heard Trevor bellow as the crowd applauded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHi, I\u2019m Callie,\u201d the girl introduced herself. \u201cI like your style.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDexter!\u201d he responded nervously. \u201cI like\u2026you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Callie laughed again, sounding almost musical. \u201cThanks, I guess.\u201d The two stared at each other nervously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLooks like we got a Casanova over here!\u201d Dazzy yelled. Kat slapped him in the arm to shut him up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the rest of the night, Dexter and Callie danced together goofily. Dexter was full of social anxiety, but also felt like he was in a fever dream. Dexter\u2019s friends moshed alongside them, continuing to live their best lives. Before anyone knew it, Rise In Girl was finishing their final song of the night, \u201cI Love You Man, But the Eyeliner\u2019s Got to Go.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBroken texts and severed heads<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standing in the closet of disaster<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should get out and see the world instead<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For it\u2019s yourself you should be looking after\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THANK YOU, FLYING HAMSTERS!!!\u201d Trevor shouted as the final guitar riff of the night stretched on. Finally, Jake pounded out the last note and bedlam erupted. Dexter and his friends screamed their heads off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have a surprise for you!\u201d Callie yelled to Dexter over the commotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhoa! What?\u201d Dexter\u2019s eyes widened as he had no idea what to expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome with me!\u201d Without warning, Callie grabbed his arm and took off, carrying both of them through the crowd. Dexter\u2019s friends stared on in disbelief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t forget to wrap it up!\u201d Bobby yelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approaching the edge of the crowd now and getting towards the stage, Callie led Dexter behind the stage, away from the rest of the student body. Their surroundings had quieted down, and the members of Rise In Girl were now about twenty feet away. Are we allowed to be back here? <\/em>Dexter wondered. It was surreal to be so close to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCan you just tell me what\u2019s going on here? I\u2019m so confused,\u201d Dexter asked with a goofy smile on his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust hold on. Stay right here, I\u2019ll be back,\u201d Callie assured him, leaving him alone as she wandered off. The mystery would have to continue, at least for another moment or two.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
